I never heard of it actually I knew it couldn't be by SDRE but I downloaded
it anyway. I was intriqued by the vocals and spent a good month or so trying
to find out who this mysterious band was. Even after 3 billion search results
for "Naomi" I pressed on and discovered what a thrill it is to be anything at

Shows Seen: I saw Circulatory System at the Flywheel in Easthampton,
MA on November 11, where I exchanged a sweet conversation with Julian about
the Music Tapes, and commended Will and Jeff on the tremendous show. They are
all incredibly nice, incredibly warm, incredibly charasmatic, and incredibly
unlike any other human beings, let alone performers I've encountered. I have
a hunch the new CS material will be great.

pinnacle of western cultural achievement (i kid you not) "On Avery Island" -
a lesser high point of western cultural achievement (i kid you not); "The Coroner's
Gambit" by the Mountain Goats - three words: "oh, sweet death"; Any goddamned
thing by Of Montreal - fun fun fun; Circulatory System - closest to my philosophy
as any record i've heard gets; "Redefining Music" by Atom and His Package -
twee punk box nerd - AHH!; so much more.. ehh.. Radiohead, etc. But everyone
knows about them.

Other Comments: "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" is the most complete,
resplendent, otherworldly album I've ever experienced. Much like seeing E6 artists
live, it's a completely warm, glowing, and alien EXPERIENCE as opposed to an
objective or even subjective one. Oh, the agony of engaging in everyday mews
once you know there's a GIANT WORLD better than yours!

Shows Seen: Last Sunday night (Oct 10, 2001)... with the Circulatory
System at the Flywheel in Easthampton, MA. Travelled all the way from Maine
for this one, and it was gorgeous. One of the best shows I've ever been to.
Jeff threw his drums on top of Julian and staretd playing them there. I introduced
myself too, which was my highlight of the evening. I played all NMH/Jeff Mangum
stuff on my radio show today out of appreciation for the band. I also interviewd
Laura of Elf Power for my show, and she talked a bit about Jeff. They rescued
dogs from the lab where Laura used to work.

Shows Seen: Solo, in the basement of a sushi restaurant in Charlottesville
opening up for Olivia Tremor Control (who he subsequently played with). Blew
a fuse and played, quite literally, unplugged. NMH at the Knitting Factory in
NYC and at the Pontiac in Philadelphia. The former was pristine, the latter
scrappy (with a great Everything Is), both brilliant.
